The Sphinx
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a limestone statue thst stands on the west bankof the nile. The Sphinx is a potrait of Khufu's son khafre. The Sphinx is a symbol that has represented the essence of Egypt for thousands of years. With the body of a lion and the the head of the king the Sphinx sybolizes strength and wisdom.
In addition to a lost nose in which was said that Napoleons soilders are responsible for in 1798 the Sphinx is missing a ceremonic pharaonic beard. The beard was added later on after the original construction.
